Business and Human Rights Tanzania (BHRT) has been monitoring human rights in socio-economic activities where human rights are likely to be exacerbated. The Methodologies used include research, fact-finding mission, and outreach training program. Such undertakings have enriched the mineral extraction subsector, construction, the agricultural, Industrial, tourism sectors, and any other developmental programs that necessitate human resources. The outcome of the human rights monitoring succumbs to legal and policy reforms, prompting intra-personal transformation in perception and administrative approaches over envisioned perspectives.

Through human rights monitoring programs, Business and Human Rights Tanzania (BHRT)develops reports linked to human rights preservation and promotion in various areas of its work. Business and Human Rights Tanzania has effectively utilized its experienced staff to engage various individuals in human rights monitoring programs. This includes paralegals, trained human rights monitors, empowered local government leaders, and informed community members, all contributing to the organization's efforts in promoting and overseeing human rights initiatives. The direct participation of the community members in the monitoring programs ensures unsurpassed and profound situational information from the ground.

Data collected through this program serves as valuable resources that inform and strengthen our advocacy initiative and contribute to the content of various organization publications. The data from the reports enabled us to advocate for policy and legal reforms, corporate accountability on human rights issues and promote awareness to the affected community members and relevant stakeholders on issues related to Business and Human Rights, including the UN-Guiding Principle on Business and Human Rights.

Information collected through monitoring and fact findings also forms the basis of our reports, research papers, fact sheets, policy briefs, and other publications, which provide an overview of the current situation of business and human rights concerns, disseminating vital information and driving dialogue and engagement and action toward improving business and human rights agenda on a broader scale within local communities, Corporates and three organs of the states.

The information collected and analysed informs the organisation advocating for policy and legal reforms, corporate accountability on human rights issues, and promoting awareness to the affected community members and relevant stakeholders on issues related to Business and Human Rights, including the UN Guiding Principle on Business and Human Rights.In addition to its reporting functions, Business and Human Rights Tanzania (BHRT) occasionally identifies and leverages strategic opportunities to engage with relevant authorities. Through these interactions, BHRT aims to expedite avenues for reform, foster collaborative relationships between governmental bodies and local communities, and enhance coordinated efforts to address and rectify human rights violations.

Through human rights pivotal programs, BHRT is working to establish business and human rights clubs in colleges and schools, to champion awareness of general issues relating to the respect, protection, and promotion of human rights in the business sector in Tanzania.

Nevertheless, the human rights monitoring initiatives by Business and Human Rights Tanzania have built collaboration with companies in the business sector, hence, the improvement and formation of the company-level grievance mechanism. Human rights monitoring initiatives have created a supportive environment, helping community members to grasp human rights knowledge.
